Last time we were in Asheville, this place was boarded up because of the pandemic. Now it’s open, and we’ve found another place to eat when we’re here. We were seated at the bar immediately got there around pm on a Saturday , and picked up the drink special frozen raspberry daquiri , then got an appetizer and two chicken Tikka wraps, which were incredible.

The bartender was friendly and chatted with us about everything, and even recommended her favorite chutneys and said they make their own bitters in-house. I wanted to try everything on the menu and we will certainly be back. Truly the best Indian food I’ve ever had in the United States! I had heard about this place before our trip to Ashville and it was on my list of must-try places. We found the restaurant hours at most places in Ashville weren’t great, many closed a few days every week which meant we had to try certain places all within specific days and a lot of them were open on the same days.

Looking at their website I think this had more to do with the pandemic than what their business is typically like. It was somehow both sweet and savory! For my main dish, I got the sloppy Jai, which is their take on a sloppy joe.

I’m convinced the bhel puri is not from this earth, this beautifully balanced and sweet yet crunchy and acidic chutney that just glows with every bite.

Add on to that the chicken pakoras, some fries-like okra, and the vada pav and you’ll see the magic. Just wish I left room for the butter chicken! I’m still thinking about it! Fish taco being my least favorite, still good, but perhaps if it was battered and not grilled it would have been better was too fishy for me. All of these tacos were absolutely wonderful, and we loved them all.

Tacos are super good! There are tacos for everyone here whether you are vegetarian, Vegan or a meat eater… there is something delicious for everyone! Highly recommend starting by sharing the Salasa and Chips then getting your tacos. Parking is easy even if you are traveling with a trailer. Jerk chicken and fish tacos were so good!

Love the environment, interesting decor inside, plenty of shaded outdoor seating. They had some funky options for tacos but the combination of ingredients made it surprisingly delicious!

Ribs are offers as three-rib tasters, half-racks six and a full rack of a dozen. The previous occupants shuttered their greasy spoon after chest-high waters flooded the place. Budget-friendly prices, generous portions and a fast-moving line make 12 Bones a favorite barbecue joint. Along with ribs, brisket and pulled pork, 12 Bones has some of the best side dishes around.

Jalapeno cheese grits, corn pudding and smoked potato salad are certainly worth a try. Waited about 30 minutes in a line outside. I’d definitely do it again. Some of the best pulled pork I’ve ever had, even without sauce. Fiance loved the blueberry chipotle ribs. Corn pudding is also super good. We’ll definitely be adding this place to our list of places to come back to. I ordered ribs and pulled pork. The staff was friendly and restrooms were clean.

The food came out quick and hot. There was plenty of seating inside and all kinds of seating outside. Always a guaranteed good meal. I love the dry rubbed ribs. For the daring try the hot hot Bbq ribs. For safe but I’m not sure healthy there is a terrific pulled chicken.

Just add your side Mac and cheese, slaw, cornbread, okra, etc and you won’t be disappointed. This location is along the river in an old warehouse section.

A great spot to hangout, bike ride or walk. Try it on Wanderlog. This tasty Asheville restaurant offers a little bit of everything, from wood-smoked whole hog barbecue to delicious fried catfish and many more options. Although the restaurant is currently open for takeout and delivery only, visitors can also dine at the picnic tables outside. Buxton Hall Barbecue is a traditional eastern Carolina BBQ joint, which means they specialize in wood smoked, whole hog barbecue.

Best of all, they offer pasture-raised meat and produce from local farmers, which about as boutique as a modern-day barbecue house can get. We love the Whole Hog Pulled Pork Plate, dressed with an Eastern Carolina bbq mop and served with pickles, hush puppies, and a choice of two sides. Preserving the art of whole hog ‘cue, the menu leads with traditional pulled pork platters and sandwiches. In a landscape dotted with Carolina barbecue joints, Buxton Hall stands head and shoulders above the crowd.

Really cool spot! Hush puppies were delicious. Highly recommend the Lions Share cocktails. Thank you to Scout for being a really kind and personable server. Food was awesome and the atmosphere is so cool! Huge windows with a little lovely mountain ridge view. They even have murals on the walls from Really cool little gem. We enjoyed our lunch here, but I wouldn’t necessarily say we have to make this a regular stop. The sweet tea was perfectly sweet.

BBQ is vinegar-based and on the meh side. Honestly can’t recommend any of the sauces. We learned about this place from the Food Network, so our expectations were high. The atmosphere was neat and our waitress was friendly. We seated ourselves per their sign’s instructions and apparently we sat in a table that gets served by the bar. The bartender did show up a few minutes later, and apologized for the wait. I would describe the food as ok – but nothing to write home about.

I ordered the fish sandwich with lima beans. I didn’t really care for the seasonings in the beans. My husband ordered the chopped brisket po boy sandwich with french fries. The chopped brisket was more like pulled brisket. The taste was fine for both meals – but this isn’t a place I’d make a special trip to.

I love this place. They have a garden out back and indoor, outdoor, and sheltered porch seating. The vibe of the peace is so chill, and the staff is very helpful. The food was great, and they change up their menu often. We got the shrimp and grits, chicken and waffle sandwich, and the lemon pepper crusted trout.

The risotto in the trout was so amazing and perfect. The food came out in a timely manner, and everything was perfect. Amazing cocktails. Got their gin cocktail and it was strong not that we minded. Ordered the pecan crusted fried green tomato sandwich and shrimp and grits. All were delicious.

Service was attentive and friendly. Cute place. Loved that it uses local vendors for their food. Even in winter time the patio was super toasty with its enclosure and heaters. The food was amazing and arrived quickly. The servers were all really helpful and friendly.

You would never know it was mid-February when we went Contemporary American cuisine featuring local ingredients served in a chic space with a patio. Simply put, their gnocchi is to die for, as are the Short Ribs and Joyce Farms Chicken seemingly every Asheville restaurant has their take on this local staple, but theirs is particularly good. Located in the heart of the Historic Pack Square area, the casually elegant Posana ranks among the best Asheville, NC restaurants in terms of fine dining.

The venue decor is modern and elegant and the food is utterly divine. One of the first fancier restaurants in downtown Asheville that we ate at before moving to AVL, Posana is another AVL restaurant that is always jumping.

Posana has a dedicated gluten-free kitchen, which is perfect for my Celiac husband. Like Chiesa and Chestnut, Posana is the best restaurant in Asheville for celebrations. We had my birthday dinner here and everything was fabulous! William was knowledgeable, patient and kind. He made our evening special and the food was absolutely delicious. We cannot wait to have our closest friends and family celebrate with us at this establishment.

It comes with olive oil and butter and I wish they had added some fresh herbs to the oil to add more flavor to the dish.

Many of the sauces and noodles are gluten-free. Park in their lot in the back or along one of the residential side streets. Another lesser-known and coveted local Asheville lunch restaurant, Wild Ginger is a must for pho and noodles. Located in an unassuming strip mall in South AVL, this Vietnamese restaurant features large portions, bubble tea with lactose-free options , and banh mi.

Wild Ginger labels all of their dishes for gluten-free diners too. Choose from endless noodle, rice, meat, and fish dishes. This is a casual setting with a large but busy parking lot out front.
