The bartender was friendly and chatted with us about everything, and even recommended her favorite chutneys and said they make their own bitters in-house. I wanted to try everything on the menu and we will certainly be back. Truly the best Indian food I’ve ever had in the United States!
I had heard about this place before our trip to Ashville and it was on my list of must-try places. We found the restaurant hours at most places in Ashville weren’t great, many closed a few days every week which meant we had to try certain places all within specific days and a lot of them were open on the same days. Looking at their website I think this had more to do with the pandemic than what their business is typically like. My friend and I are visiting Asheville for the weekend and a lot of people recommended this place to me.
When we arrived it was a 1. While we were hungry, I was advised it was worth the wait. A little over 1. The staff was kind and accommodating to my allergies. The food was delicious and the service was great! The naan was impressively soft with perfect crispy browning. Highly recommend the Sev Potato Dahi Puri appetizer. All the textures and flavors in these bite-sized portions were the best way to start the meal. The creamy butter chicken was the special of the day and it did not disappoint.
The food was truly incredible! The flavors are so rich and well blended. It was a real gift to my palette! We got the sweet potato chaat as an appetizer and wow! What an array of flavors! It was somehow both sweet and savory!
For my main dish, I got the sloppy Jai, which is their take on a sloppy joe. I’m convinced the bhel puri is not from this earth, this beautifully balanced and sweet yet crunchy and acidic chutney that just glows with every bite. Add on to that the chicken pakoras, some fries-like okra, and the vada pav and you’ll see the magic. Just wish I left room for the butter chicken! I’m still thinking about it! If you’re ever in Asheville, make a reservation, or wait the standby time to eat here; I promise it’s worth it!

In a landscape dotted with Carolina barbecue joints, Buxton Hall stands head and shoulders above the crowd.

Huge windows with a little lovely mountain ridge view. They even have murals on the walls from Really cool little gem. We enjoyed our lunch here, but I wouldn’t necessarily say we have to make this a regular stop. The sweet tea was perfectly sweet. BBQ is vinegar-based and on the meh side. Honestly can’t recommend any of the sauces. We learned about this place from the Food Network, so our expectations were high.

The restaurant operates its own garden adjacent to its dining room. I love this place. They have a garden out back and indoor, outdoor, and sheltered porch seating. The vibe of the peace is so chill, and the staff is very helpful. The food was great, and they change up their menu often. We got the shrimp and grits, chicken and waffle sandwich, and the lemon pepper crusted trout. The risotto in the trout was so amazing and perfect. The food came out in a timely manner, and everything was perfect.

Ordered the breadsticks before the main meal and thought they were very bland. It comes with olive oil and butter and I wish they had added some fresh herbs to the oil to add more flavor to the dish. The trout and gnocchi were good. The mushroom sauce on the trout made the dish. I consider those prices high. Service was good throughout. But, vacationing on a budget is a reality, and if I would have seen the menu and their prices before we entered, I would have picked another place to dine.

Make sure you are very hungry – you get a lot of food! There are a lot of 5 star reviews and I am hesitant with my 3 stars. We are visiting and someone suggested Biscuit Head. They had me at biscuit. The menu leans toward the heavy and unhealthy, but there is nothing wrong with that on occasion. I went for the biscuits. The scrambled eggs were fluffy and tasty. The bacon was awesome. I loved the idea that they take many traditional southern recipes and add their local flair. For instance, the pimento cheese grits were different, yet, tasty.
The jam bar was awesome. The different flavors that they offer are remarkable. The coffee was exceptional. The portions were plentiful. In short, it was a great experience. There is something on the menu for most if not all. I enjoyed it.
Biscuit Head is located in Doctor’s Park, which may be required, as a plate from this quick service spot could send you into a food coma. The line out the door shouldn’t scare you, as the ordering process is seamless with quality recommendations by the cashiers. With a jam bar, all made in house, and several types of coffee to choose from. I snagged The Filthy Animal, which was topped with a slightly spicy “pimento” cheese.
Talk about a high quality, fluffy biscuit! Paired with thick bacon and a juicy piece of fried chicken, you just can’t lose. The Southern Scramble was a dish anyone would like, we added Sriracha Maple sausage. We also snagged the fried green tomato stack featured on the scramble dish.

Over all the theme of this place supporting local farms is evident in their menu. The restaurant it self if inviting and service was on spot. Great great place to have a brunch. I can only imagine other menus will be just as good.
